Walk with Me runs a terrific 4th Feb 18 in the $100K Maddie May

Making only her 3rd start, Walk With Me improves her Beyer speed figure by an amazing 20 points, finishing 4th, beaten just a half-length at 10-1, despite a very tough trip. No horse was beating the odds on favorite Our Main Squeeze who is one of the fastest 3 year old fillies in the country with the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks in her sights. The 2nd place finisher Landed was a $500,000 yearling purchase trained by Wesley Ward. Walk With Me would have easily gotten 3rd if her jockey Dylan Davis was not forced to put on the brakes on the far turn when a filly in front of him began retreating. Walk With Me was forced to check in the midst of beginning her move. She lost a couple lengths until regaining her stride. Davis decided to stay inside for the stretch run, where the 3 year old filly took off again. Walk With Me sustained a strong move, but the top 2 finishers were well clear over a speed favoring and deep track. Davis did not abuse her in the late stages, knowing this was clearly a stepping stone for bigger and better things throughout her 3 year old campaign. If Walk With Me comes out of the race without any issues, she will be pointed for an Allowance race in March where I expect her to be very competitive.

WALK WITH ME RUNS A HUGE 2ND IN THE $500,000 FIFTH AVENUE DIVISION OF THE N.Y. STALLION SERIES

(#8) WALK WITH ME 8/1

Owned by Wizard Stables, this promising granddaughter of the late, great Speightstown made her career debut on November 9th at Aqueduct. She had been training exceptionally well leading up to this start, working in company with a highly regarded runner who ran 2nd at 27-1 in her career debut.

The $100,000 Fasig Tipton purchase was anticipated to run well, but 6 furlongs on the dirt was actually not her best conditions, so a victory wasn’t necessarily expected the first time out.

The 2yo has the pedigree on both sides to run well with added ground and she is actually better rated than on the lead. Walk With Me showed tremendous grit and a lot of promise in her debut as the jock put her on the lead and she fought off challenges in the stretch run to secure the win at 9-1. She returns in this much tougher spot, but this is a wide-open stakes with no world beaters. Trainer David Duggan is a solid 31% winner with a huge +3.61 ROI with recent maiden graduates. Look for Walk With Me to sit a great stalking trip under Dylan Davis before making her presence felt on the turn for home. Square price expected!

Walk with me

Two years ago, the Wizard assembled a team of the industry’s finest bloodstock agents to assist in the  purchase of yearlings pointed for racing.

Walk With Me, our first purchase for $100,000 made her debut a winning one this November 9 at Aqueduct, paying a whopping $18.00. Three more yearlings are now being broken at KatieRich Farms in Midway Kentucky. In January 2024, all three will begin training at Keeneland in the expert hands of horseman Danny Leitch. Danny will be the trainer of record for the Wizard’s two Kentucky Breds, named The Feisty One and Wiz the Bomb. New York bred filly Love is Real will follow the same path as Walk With Me, training in Kentucky and then shipping to New York into the barn of well-respected Irish trainer David Duggan.
