4 year old filly easily won her first two starts at Fair Grounds. Champlin simply dominated her rivals and in each case, she was wrapped up in the late stages.The competition was tougher when she moved to the second Allowance level on April 21. This time she tired in the drive after being hard used on a blistering pace. The key to her development was her ability to rate in her most recent start. Relaxing behind the leaders, she came out for the drive and finished strong to win going away. She’s sharp enough to take the next step, and this time she looks like the controlling speed in a race which lacks much other early lick.
