Race 11 Post time 5:14pm ET
(# 4) ZULU KINGDOM
The only member of this field with 2 wins seeks to retain his unblemished record and has the potential for a nice forward move as he makes back-to-back starts without a layoff for the first time. He easily won over 11 rivals on soft turf going about 7F in France in his June 4 debut, then was privately purchased and shipped here to trainer Chad Brown, the top turf conditioner in the country. Brown had Zulu Kingdom ready for his stakes debut in the G3 With Anticipation off a layoff of nearly 3 months on August 29, and after stalking a mild early pace, Zulu Kingdom showed a powerful late kick to come through a bit tight along the rail and lay down a fast late pace for a game win. He’s had another 4+ weeks since then to freshen up, and Brown has won 25% second start off similar layoffs in 2023-24. Zulu Kingdom shows two more fast works since the G3 win, including a sharp drill on turf on Sept 20, and he gets a switch from one outstanding turf rider, Flavien Prat, to another, recently inducted Hall of Famer Joel Rosario.
